Kairos: The Greek word for "Quality Time" as opposed to Chronos, meaning "quantitive time".

Where quality cannot be quantified. Where time stands still and allows you to rest, relax and restore your spirit.

The Area:

Kairos retreat is situated in the Wakkerstroom area, which is a historical village, established 150 years ago with stories of the Anglo-Boer war, Gandhi and fallen heroes to tell. Known as “The Jewel of Mpumalanga”, nestled in a beautiful valley 27kms from Volksrust, a mere 3 hour’s journey from Gauteng, yet totally removed from the stresses and strains of modern living.
The house was built in 1889. It is a wooden-framed house, built of raw brick and clad with corrugated iron. It was used as an Officers' Mess by the British during the Anglo-Boer War. The NG Church missionary, Rev. P.L. le Roux lived in the house for some time and played a prominent role in the Zionist movement and the Apostolic Faith Mission, baptising the first Zionists in the Wakkerstroom river. The house was consecrated by him.
Be inspired by the serene surroundings: rolling hills and valleys, forests, wetlands and grasslands, teaming with abundant bird-life, home to some endemic species found nowhere else in the world!  A perfect setting for artists and musicians, Wakkerstroom hosts an annual Music & Art Festival in March, which has gained international acclaim and recognition. There are also several Art Galleries featuring work by local artists.
